The Golf Tournament
We wanted to create something special, something that’s
worth fighting for, something that we’d be prepared to
travel 3000km to get to… well, we found it, golfing perfection…
La Manga, Murcia!
La Manga is the ultimate golfer’s paradise,
with three of the world’s finest championship courses
all in one place, just waiting to be played… The stage
is set, the tee times booked and the fairways cut, ready for
the dramatic
conclusion
to the Golfball 3OOO Rally… oooh, you could cut the air
with a putter…
Forget the Ryder Cup, the Golfball 3000
Tournament is THE golf event of the summer.
So which course
are we playing on?
The Golfball 3OOO Tournament is an 18 hole competition
which will be held on the North Course at La Manga. At
5753 yards,
the par 71 championship course is sure to ruin plenty of
people’s
day…
A feature of the newly constructed greens, all
built to USGA specification, is the amount of movement
incorporated
in
them, none more so than the short Par 3, 2nd, which has
three distinct
plateau - a great test of putting relying on precision
rather than length. A deft touch is required on these
greens or
you’ll
find your self using a calculator to add up your score!
So get some practice in fellow GOLFBALLERS at the 88
bay driving range!! I know I will be…
How many
times will we play?
We can only play once as there are there are 200+ golfers
to get through the tee box! We should all be finished
by 5pm and
back in the clubhouse, unless I go first, in which
case we’ll
be lucky to get in before dark.
So how do I win?
Dead simple, play better than anyone else and you’ll
win…as
long as you don’t cheat of course! The exact
details of the competition will be revealed at a
later date but it will
be a three quarter handicap, stableford tournament.
What
do I win?
The winner will receive a spanking brand new set
of golf clubs and runners up will also get some fantastic
prizes!
We’ll
reveal more in a few weeks when all the places are
booked.
Do I have to be good at golf?
No, you don’t even have to play golf actually! You
can swap your golf ticket for a spa treatment or a game
of tennis
if you like (subject to availability). If you are
going to play golf though and want to be in with a chance,
you should be able
to play to a 28 handicap as this is the maximum
allowed for the tournament.
Don’t worry if you play
off 36 though as long as you’re
ok with not winning the top prize! There is always
the duffers prize of course…
How much does it cost?
Absolutely nothing, nada, zip! As long as you have
paid your entry fee, you’re in. Simple
as that.
What if I don’t play golf?
Don’t worry if you don’t play golf, you can
swap your golf ticket for a spa treatment instead or one
of La Manga’s
other offerings. Yes lads, that means you
can bring the missus or get a sack, crack and back thingy...ewww
Tee-off
times
Tee times will be issued randomly in order
to split up teams so you can meet other
lovely GOLFBALLERS.
They
start at 8am
on Monday 29th September and go through
till about
12.30pm depending
on final numbers.
Your tee time will be
issued when you get your rally pack and once it’s
issued, you can’t change it. It’s
luck of the draw as to what you get and
you will all be expected to take it like a true GOLFBALLER
even if it’s the 8am
one…
Bits to remember…
Make sure you remember to bring your
clubs or book your club hire in advance,
you’d be gutted if you went to
hire some and there were none available!
Don’t forget your golf shoes,
you will not be allowed on the course
without them and again, you would be
gutted.
You MUST bring a collared shirt
to play in and right golfing attire or
you will
not
be able
to play so
make sure you
pack well.
That’s about all
we can think of golf wise for now…
But
how do I fit the clubs in the car?
This isn’t a problem if there are two people
in a car but if there are four of you and you’re
wondering how to fit stuff in, try this...
Either all
of you bring pencil bags
which are dead thin and don’t
take up much room…or…put
all of your clubs into one of the
four bags and then you can fit the
other bags in anywhere…as
long as they’re lightweight
bags of course otherwise you’re
screwed!
Or you can hire them at La
Manga but it’s not cheap…
